NACC set up and is
managing Community Based Childcare Centres (CBCC) in which orphaned and
non-orphaned children aged 2 to 5 years play together regardless of
their status and are being cared for during the day. These children are
provided with meals, pre-school education, and playing materials by care
givers. They are also screened by the Health Surveillance Assistants
(HSA) to identify if there are children with special needs in terms of
diseases, disability, and stunted growth to be assisted accordingly.
These gives guardian of orphans ample time to do domestic work, care for
the sick and also provide opportunity for older children to go to school
instead of caring for the young siblings while the guardians do domestic
work.
