Community sensitization and mobilization
NACC has and continue to sensitize and mobilize communities in three Districts of Mangochi, Machinga and Zomba to identify and address problems caused by AIDS. To achieve these, the targeted communities discuss and identify issues that promote the spread of HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in their respective villages. They then prioritize the identified issues and come up with action plans that could help in reducing further spread of STIs including HIV. As part of the infrastructure to support the program implementation NACC has successfully set up Village AIDS Committees (VACs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) at Group Village level that provide leadership and management of the VACs. In addition, Youth NGOs were set up to take a lead on and support youth programmes.
